FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana Tech was locked down for about 45 minutes Tuesday while police served a high profile warrant in the 1400 block of Maumee Avenue.
According to police, the warrant was related to the Monday night shooting that left a man dead. Five people at the home were taken into custody for questioning. Police said they all came out of a home and surrendered willingly.
A viewer photo showed an armored vehicle, an unmarked squad car and several marked squad cars in the area where the warrant was served.
Indiana Tech officials were alerted by police about the warrant and subsequent activity near the campus around 9 a.m. Campus officials decided to issue the following campus alert as a precaution.
Campus Alert: DUE TO A POLICE EMERGENCY IN THE AREA, PLEASE STAY INDOORS WHEREVER YOU ARE OR ENTER THE NEAREST BUILDING IMMEDIATELY UNTIL FURTHER INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE.
The all clear was given just after 10 a.m.
