GE Aviation construction moves forward

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLF) – Construction on the new GE Aviation facility in Lafayette is moving along, now that dirt has been removed from the site.

The Tippecanoe County Council granted the county $800,000 for dirt removal. Commissioner Tom Murtaugh said the county and city of Lafayette split the total cost of $1.6 million to remove the extra dirt. Both entities will be get some of that money back.

“The state has agreed to pay $700,000 of the total cost, so they will reimburse both the city and the county $350,000. The total cost to each of us will be $450,000,” Murtaugh said.
