BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Bloomington say they have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection to a robbery that happened on the B-Line Trail back in July.

The teenager, from Bloomington, was also arrested for unrelated charges of theft for shoplifting from three stores in College Mall on Sept. 8.

The robbery on the trail happened July 28. A woman riding a bicycle told officers that a man stepped out in front of her bike, forcing her to stop. Two other individuals joined the man, and ordered the woman to the ground at gunpoint.

Police say the woman was robbed of a number of items, including a cell phone. The three suspects then fled the area.

The Bloomington Police Department says they determined the teen was involved in the July robbery as they were interviewing him about a purse theft this week. Police are working to determine if another boy, 15, taken into custody for the purse theft was also involved in the July 28 robbery on the B-Line Trail and another robbery on the trail on July 24.

The 17-year-old told police the weapon used on July 28 was a BB gun. Both teens were transported to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.
