CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – When you hear people talk about Carmel, it’s often about developments downtown. Last week, the city announced its plan for the Midtown project.
But, there’s also a lot of construction activity on Westfield, between 96th Street and 101st Street. The city council approved one last week and two more sites are in the works.
Carmel’s Mayor Jim Brainard says condos and townhomes will rise on some of the remaining space in Carmel. He says those projects represent a change in philosophy.
“We’re finding the housing market is changing though. Everyone doesn’t want to own a house on half an acre. They don’t like mowing the lawn that well,” Brainard said. “It’s all about options and so it’s good to see we’re getting a good mix.”
One of the new developments could take the place of what used to be the Sunrise Golf Course. Hearings on that proposal began just last week.
