Man found unresponsive outside hospital dies

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (AP) — Police are investigating the death of a man who was found on the grounds of a southern Indiana hospital.

North Vernon police say officers were called to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital because of suspicious activity outside the hospital about 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Those officers found an unresponsive man in a grassy area of the hospital property.

The Tribune of Seymour reports police identified the man as 53-year-old Gary Fields of Seymour.

Police say Fields was pronounced dead at the hospital in the city about 60 miles south of Indianapolis.
