INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The man accused of shooting a cat with blow darts was in court on Monday.
Tippy the cat was shot six or seven times with the darts last week on the city’s near south side. The cat was so badly injured, they had to put it down.
Long didn’t say anything as he left the Marion County Courthouse, but Tippy’s owner talked to 24-Hour News 8 and said she’s determined to see justice done.
“I am just glad we’re here today to start the process for vindication for Tippy. And I’ll be here every time he has to be here, I’ll be here every time. I want him to know I’m here and that other people are supporting me and I hope the number grows as every time he has to come to court, I hope there’s more people that come too and stand up because he shouldn’t get away with this,” Amy Cohron said.
Long told police Tippy was fighting with his cat and that’s why he did it. He’s charged with torturing or mutilating an animal, killing a domestic animal and cruelty.
Long is back in court on October 29.
