1 dead, 2 airlifted after horse buggy, dump truck crash

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Parke County Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident around 7 p.m. Friday near Billie Creek Village on U.S. 36 involving an Amish horse buggy and a dump truck.

Officials at the scene reported the driver of the dump truck was blinded by the sun and hit the buggy.  Five passengers were in the buggy when the accident happened.

Two, including a young child, were airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. Conditions of the young child and others were not immediately clear. A male was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Officials also reported two horses were killed in the accident.
