Serious motorcycle crash closes Southeastern Avenue

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A serious motorcycle crash closed a section of Southeastern Avenue early Friday.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Metropolitan Police received a call reporting a person down next to a motorcycle on Southeastern Avenue and St. Peter Street.

When officers arrived, they located two individuals and two motorcycles.  Police say it appeared both motorcycles had crashed.

One driver was taken to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.  The second driver was later taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

Investigators believe the two motorcycles were headed west on Southeastern Avenue. Police say speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the accident.

Investigators with the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team along with accident re-constructionists were called to investigate the crash.

Eastbound and westbound lanes of Southeastern Avenue will remain closed for thru-traffic through rush hour. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
