MONROVIA, Ind. (WISH) — Indiana State Police released new information on Friday about an incident that left a man injured by police gunfire back in September.

The incident happened on Sept. 5 in the 9700 block of North Hall Road. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department was investigating possible stolen property at a home there.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home on North Hall Road. After walking inside and identifying themselves as police officers serving a search warrant they encountered 53-year-old David W. Skinner of Monrovia. Police say he suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound from shots fired by the Morgan County deputies.

Police say Skinner was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, was treated and released. No deputies were hurt.

According to police, items that were seized during the search warrant are part of the ongoing criminal investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and a special prosecutor will determine what charges, if any, will be filed.
