INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Fall break started Monday for a lot of central Indiana schools and others were scheduled to begin a week later.
As parents across central Indiana look for ways to enjoy the extra time with their children, a self-made entertainment expert has made a free resource available.
Katy Mann, creator of IndyWithKids.com has organized suggestions for fall family fun activities and destinations. Topping the ideas are seasonal classics like apple orchards, pumpkin patches, haunted houses and corn mazes.
Mann suggests checking with various locations as many that would typically reserve most activities for weekends do offer fall break hours during the week.
Though fall forecasts are not always favorable for outdoor fun, Mann says families shouldn’t feel stuck at home.
“Malls even have playgrounds. A lot of churches are opening up their doors for indoor playground times. Check out the park programs around you because they’re going to offer activities almost every single day for just a dollar or two and often they’re free,” Mann said.
Longer fall breaks have become more common with more schools modifying what was known as the traditional calendar to a balanced or altered schedule.
