FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Fire officials in Fishers said Wednesday afternoon they were on the scene of a natural gas leak that prompted some evacuations and road closures in the area.

Officials originally believed the leak was from an 8-inch steel supply line under Fall Creek Road but later determined it to be from a small feeder line.

Fall Creek was shut down between Brookschool Road and 96th Street for over an hour while crews worked to secure the leak, which was stopped around 1:30 p.m.

Residents in the immediate area of Fall Creek and Spruance Court were evacuated and no vehicles were allowed in the area until the line was secured. The roads were reopened around 2:15 p.m.

If residents in the area have a strong smell of gas in their home, they should contact 911. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
