INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indiana’s largest and longest running independent film festival began Thursday night in Indianapolis.
During the Heartland Film Festival, the work of more than 100 independent filmmakers will be on screens near you. There will be red carpet premieres, parties and other events.
The festival’s artistic director says this year’s films represent cultural experiences from all over the world.
He says they don’t choose films that are deliberately provocative, but they do choose work that will lead to discussion and get viewers to think.
“They’re entertaining films, but they do a lot more than entertain. So, they might inspire you, they might challenge you, they might shift your perspectives on life or even on a certain part of America,” Tim Irwin said.
The Heartland Film Festival runs through Saturday, Oct. 25.
