TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A home invasion in Tippecanoe County ended in a car crash Thursday after the homeowner took matters into his own hands.

The homeowner — who did not wish to give his name or where he lives — said his home has been broken into multiple times in the past year.

Early Thursday morning, the homeowner caught a burglar in the act, and when the man took off in a vehicle, the homeowner followed him in his car.

The two were involved in a chase until the burglar crashed at the intersection of county roads 800 North and 900 East. The burglar then took off into a nearby field where deputies set up a perimeter to find him. So far, the man has not been located.

If you have any information, call the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office at 765-423-9388.
