INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police in Indianapolis said Thursday afternoon they were looking for an individual who robbed a grocery store at gunpoint.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Madison Avenue and East Troy Avenue after reports that an Aldi, located at 2955 Madison Avenue, was robbed at gunpoint.

A spokesman with IMPD said shortly before 3 p.m. that officers were in the area searching for the suspect. The Christel House Academy on East Street was notified of the situation and was placed on lockdown for precautionary measures.

The lockdown was lifted by 4 p.m. and students were then allowed to be released.

Police say no one was hurt during the incident. Some employees at the Aldi chased the suspect out of the store. At this time, police have not released a description of the suspect.

It wasn’t immediately clear what, if anything, the suspect took during the robbery.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
