Millions take part in earthquake drill

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Millions of people in the central United States took cover Thursday morning.

It was for the Great American Shakeout. Schools and businesses in Indiana and nine other states took part in the earthquake drill.

The drill happened at 10:16 a.m., since the date is Oct. 16.

Indiana’s Department of Homeland Security says it’s another reminder to make sure people are prepared and that earthquakes can and do happen in Indiana. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
