INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the scene of an armed robbery in progress on Saturday night.

The incident happened in the 3700 block of East Street on the city’s south side around 9:15 p.m.

Officers were called to the scene after a community member noticed three men enter a GameStop store with masks on.

Officers arrived and saw three masked suspects holding store employees at gunpoint in the store.

IMPD confirmed that an officer shot a suspect after giving verbal commands for a suspect to drop their weapon.

“One suspect ran out of the back of the business and brandished a weapon, officers demanded him to drop the weapon repeatedly. He did not and officers were forced to fire at him,” said IMPD Information Officer Chris Wilburn.

The suspect was shot in the shoulder and taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital according to IMPD. No officers were shot or injured.

Two other suspects were arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail for questioning.

Wilburn said it should be noted the community’s cooperation and attention to detail to help get officers to the location quickly and take three dangerous people off the streets.

The name of the officer involved is not being released as of Saturday night.
