HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) — Authorities have identified the second of four women found dead in northwest Indiana as a 35-year-old Merrillville resident.
The Lake County coroner’s office said Sunday that Anith Jones had been identified by family members. An autopsy had not yet been completed. The Post-Tribune of Merrillville reports she had been missing since Oct. 8. Her body was found Saturday night in Gary.
A woman found Friday night in a Hammond motel has been identified as 19-year-old Afrika Hardy. The coroner’s office says she had been strangled. The bodies of two other women were found early Sunday in Gary.
Hammond police Lt. Rich Hoyda says a 43-year-old Gary man has confessed to killing Hardy and told police where the other three bodies could be found.
