INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Darren Deon Vann, 43, of Gary, is under investigation for the murders of seven women whose bodies were found over the weekend. According to police, Vann’s victims may have spanned over two decades.

24-Hour News 8 contacted the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to see if Vann has any previous run-ins with the department. According to IMPD, there are no cases tied to Vann here locally. Nor has the department received any calls from outside law enforcement agencies on Vann.

In 2009, a jury convicted Vann of a sexual assault in Texas. Investigators are still trying to determine if Vann will lead police to other victims. So far, police say Vann is cooperating with the investigation. Indiana state law mandates that investigators check on sex offenders at least once a year. Deputies in Lake County investigators checked on Vann last month. Marion County Sheriff Department sends deputies to check on registered sex offenders once every 90 days.

” That doesn’t give them much time to come up missing in a year,” said Marion County Sheriff Captain Guy Hammons. If you would like to search sex offenders in your neighborhood, here is one of those sites click here.
