INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — GameStop is working closely with local police after a robbery that ended with police shooting a suspect, who later died.
24-Hour News 8 spoke with a GameStop representative on the phone Tuesday morning. He provided the following statement:
“It is unfortunate that this occurred. We are so thankful that none of our employees were seriously injured or hurt. Out of respect for our employees, at this point in time we’re not able to provide any additional comments on the incident, but we are working closely with local authorities with their investigation on this.”
An officer shot 22-year-old Terrell Lucas Saturday night; he later died. Lucas was one of three masked men who robbed a GameStop, holding employees at gunpoint, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said. Lucas ran from police and refused to drop his weapon, IMPD officials said.
Police arrested 21-year-old Jalil Hannah and 23-year-old Water Fells III, who IMPD characterized as Lucas’ accomplices. All three men are from Chicago.
The Marion County prosecutor’s office charged Hannah and Fells with murder, robbery and criminal confinement.
GameStop robberies have happened before in the metro area, and local police believe with the upcoming holidays, these types of crimes could continue.
