CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — Officials say a water main break closed lanes at Old Meridian and Main Street in Carmel Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson says the break happened when an excavating company working at the intersection hit the main. The southbound lanes of Old Meridian were closed and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
Officials say the break undermined the road and that it will be repaired after the water main is fixed Thursday.
The excavation and repair will take place during the morning hours Thursday and after the morning rush hour. Traffic northbound on Old Meridian will flow freely. Southbound traffic will flow, but with restrictions.
Officials say they plan to complete the work by the evening rush hour.
