INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A lot was to be celebrated at Saturday’s season ender for the Indianapolis Police Athletic League’s football players.

PAL hosted its Super Bowl Saturday on Arsenal Tech’s campus. The group says the finale wrapped up another successful season of teaching kids the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork and structure.

They describe the many league activities as part of an important bridge between the community and police officers.

“We want to try to build relationships with the kids so that they understand that police really want to help you and police want to be your friend and hopefully they will be able to approach an officer, whether they need to talk about a problem, or if they need to let them know that something’s not right,” Micah Moon coordinator of PAL said.

Next up on the PAL’s calendar is basketball. Sign-ups start for those teams start on Monday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
