The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon steps off this weekend. Organizers announced a four year medal series so that participants can collect the medals leading up to our tenth anniversary in 2017. Each year the medal will represent a quadrant of the Indianapolis flag and all those who complete the series will receive the “White Star Medallion” which completes the flag.

Starting and finishing on the grounds of the Indiana State Capitol, this flat and fast course highlights landmarks and historical neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis. No matter your hometown, the Monumental is the ideal fall marathon, offering more than 20 hotels within walking distance of the Start, Finish and Health & Fitness Expo at the Indiana Convention Center. In addition to the Boston Qualifying Monumental Marathon, there is a half marathon, 5k and Kids’ Fun Run. In just our first six years the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon has donated over $500,000 to support public education.
