EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — An Evansville air show featuring the Navy’s Blue Angels stunt team is back on next summer’s calendar after event organizers received a financial boost.
The Vectren Foundation pledged $50,000 on Thursday toward the estimated $170,000 cost for the air show as part of the annual ShrinersFest.
Hadi Shriners spokesman Dale Thomas says the Vectren contribution gives a 180-degree turn for organizers since they announced last week they couldn’t afford to continue the air show. The Shriners are seeking other corporate donations to cover the air show costs for next June’s festival.
The Shriners say they had until Friday to confirm the Blue Angels’ appearance for the festival along downtown Evansville’s Ohio River shore.
