GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Greensburg arrested a man this week who they say battered and choked his girlfriend in front of her 3-year-old son and prevented her from leaving his home.
Authorities say 38-year-old Shannon C. Howard was charged on Friday with strangulation and domestic battery.
Court documents state Howard got angry with his girlfriend and “choked her and pulled her hair while she was holding” her son. He also broke her phone and tablet computer to prevent her from communicating with anyone and prevented her from leaving the home, according to a police report.
The victim’s sister told police she received text and Facebook messages from her sister saying she was being confined and beaten by her boyfriend, 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at The Greensburg Daily News report.
Howard was arrested and taken to the Decatur County Jail where he was being held without bond on Friday.
