JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Johnson County sheriff reminded residents Friday morning to take precautions after a handful of thefts from cars in the White River Township area.

A number of the vehicles were unlocked, and thieves got in and stole items without any difficulty. Some of the items taken included a GPS, sunglasses and a skateboard.

Here are the tips the sheriff suggested:

  • Keep vehicles in garage.
  • If vehicles aren’t in a garage, ensure they’re locked.
  • Do not leave valuables in vehicles.
  • Install motion lights in driveways.
  • If possible, do not park on the street.
  • Do not have landscape rocks or bricks near vehicles. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
