FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – Before the murder of 73-year-old Henry Kim on Nov. 1, the last murder in Fishers was over the summer.
Now, a family is suing the Fishers Police Department for what happened during the investigation. The family is blaming police and a dog for attacking their son the evening that Connor Shockley was stabbed to death on June 22.
Brandon Murphy claims he was just a few houses away, and since he knew the victim, he went there to see if he could help. Brandon was then attacked by a Fisher’s police dog.
Murphy said it took several officers and a taser to get the dog off of him.
Murphy’s attorney says the attack caused him all kinds of injuries. The Murphy family wants compensation for the medical bills, physical pain and emotional suffering.
Fishers police said they’ve done an internal review and said the K-9 officer was in complete control of the dog at all times. Police said the officers acted in accordance with their training and experience.
