INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, it’s common for businesses to offer discounts or free items to veterans for military service. This year is no exception.

For example, Golden Corral restaurants are offering veterans or anyone serving in a U.S. Military branch a free dinner buffet. They’re also raising money for Disabled American Veterans.

“If you think about what we have, we would have nothing without our veterans,” said John Flannery with Golden Corral. “You’ll see guys coming in from WWII with their uniforms on, proud of where they’ve been and what they’ve done.”

While most businesses offer their thank yous on Tuesday, November 11, the Golden Corral event is scheduled for Monday, November 17.

Another business is the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, where, on Tuesday, veterans, active duty military and their families have free access to all exercise facilities.

“They do so much for us,” said Tangela Floyd with YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. “Sometimes they come home and they probably feel like they’re forgotten, so they Y wants them to know that we truly appreciate, and really all of Indianapolis truly appreciates what they’re doing.”
