Family displaced, firefighter hurt after west side fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A family of six was displaced from their west side home after a fire Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the 3100 block of Centennial Street around 3:30 p.m. to battle the residence fire. This is near West 30th Street and Kessler Boulevard North Drive.

Officials say the fire destroyed the roof of the home and caused $75,000 in damages.

One firefighter was slightly injured battling the fire and was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital to be treated.

No one was home at the time. The family said electrical issues were occurring at the house earlier in the day.
