Home Depot offers tips on how to save energy and money in the colder months ahead

When temperatures go down, utility bills go up. The Home Depot’s local experts have quick tips and easy projects to reduce energy costs and protect homes before winter, including:

  • Protect the exterior: Fall is a great time to prepare your home for colder temperatures and precipitation with weather-resistant paints and treatments.
  • Automate: Install a home automation system that enables mobile control of home energy use.
  • Insulate: Maximize the efficiency of insulation, water heaters and pipes.
  • Weather proof: Use insulation, weather stripping, caulks and sealants to protect from moisture and boost energy savings by “resealing the envelope.”
