Robber apologizes, grabs cash

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) – A man robbing a Lafayette Village Pantry early Tuesday apologized then grabbed the cash.

Shortly after 12:45 a.m. Lafayette Police were called to the Village Pantry in the 1900 block of Schuyler Avenue on a robbery report.

The clerk told police a man entered the store and placed a plastic bag on the counter and told the clerk to “Put the money in the bag.”

The man then apologized saying, “I’m sorry but I have kids to feed.”

According to police no weapon was displayed during the robbery and the the clerk complied with the man’s demands.

The suspect described as a white male 5’6″ in height and around 170 pounds, grabbed the bag of money and fled the store, going eastbound on foot. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
