INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police on Thursday released the name of an intruder they say was shot and killed by the resident of a home Wednesday.
Derrick Nash, 23, is the man who died, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said.
Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police say two men broke into a home near East 35th Street and North Shadeland Avenue. A man inside the home told police he heard the men kick in the front door. The man said he grabbed a gun and shot one of the suspects, identified as Nash. The other suspect, he told police, ran out of the home.
Police say the other suspect ran to a car where two people were waiting and drove off.
No additional details were released Thursday about the status of the other suspects. IMPD officials said officers were still investigating and the resident has not been arrested.
