Police: Woman broke into home, choked resident

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – A Columbus woman was arrested after police say she broke into a home and choked someone on Wednesday.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Columbus Republic, Peggy  A. Townsend, 40, is accused of going to a home in the 1200 block of Franklin Street around 2:30 p.m., breaking in the front door and accusing a person of taking her dog.

Police said Townsend choked one of the people in the home and then left. She was found by Columbus police officers nearby and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Townsend is facing preliminary strangulation, residential entry and battery charges, according to The Republic.
