WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – The Westfield Fire Department handed out free smoke detectors on Saturday.
The department received 1,200 smoke detectors from Citizens Energy Group.
The smoke detectors were handed out to low-income residents at the annual Open Doors Thanksgiving Project.
At the event, The Westfield Food Pantry handed out food to those in need.
“This is just not one meal. These families will take these supplies home and they can get together as a family, cook the meal together and then it will serve them with after that as well,” Kurt Wanninger with Open Doors Food Pantry said.
