INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Girls who might just be the next Colts Cheerleaders got a taste of performing and competing on the field of Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Colts Cheerleaders hosted the first-ever Cheer and Dance Classic on Saturday. More than 90 teams from across Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky gave it their all in front of judges.
Officials say the one-day event is the beginning of a new annual tradition.
“We just want to meet all those aspiring cheerleaders and encourage them and wish them good luck and just form a connection with them so that we can mentor those kids to be future Colts cheerleaders,” Kelly Tilley, the Colts Cheerleader manager said.
All participants had a chance to sign up for free to perform at Sunday’s Colts game against the Jaguars.
They’ll rehearse Saturday and in the morning before taking the field at halftime.
