High winds move through Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Most of central Indiana is under a wind advisory until 7 p.m. Monday.

Northern counties are under a high wind warning until 7 p.m.

wind advisoryWind was definitely a factor Monday.  WISH-TV photographers found a tree down in the downtown area, IPL reported thousands of outages in the Indianapolis-area and Frankfort said they were dealing with a large area without power.

Forecast 8 Meteorologist Ken Brewer says that the northern parts of our area could see wind gusts as high as 60 miles per, while the rest of central Indiana could see wind gusts as high as 50 mph.

Early morning thunderstorms produced some gusty wind speeds. The Columbus airport recorded a gust of 69 miles per hour, and Shelbyville saw gusts over 50 miles per hour.
