INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kyle Castner was 18 of 30 for 136 yards with a pair of passing touchdowns, and Chris Evans had 131 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown to help Ben Davis defeat Carmel 42-24 and win the Class 6A Football State Championship.
The Giants trailed 17-0 after the Greyhounds’ first three possessions but then scored 42 straight points.
Ben Davis (12-2) took the 21-17 lead after the defense forced and recovered a fumble at Carmel’s 26-yard line. Seven plays later, Dorian Tate ran in from the 1-yard line.
Shakir Paschall led Carmel (13-1) with 94 rushing yards on 13 carries with a touchdown, and Chris Perkins had two rushing touchdowns with 64 rushing yards.
Ben Davis’ defense gave up 142 yards on the first three drives and then held Carmel to 146 for the final nine.
