INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Alex Neligh threw five touchdown passes and ran 30 yards for another score as New Palestine racked up a state-record 49 points in the first half while cruising to a 77-42 victory over New Prairie in Indiana’s Class 4A state football championship.
Friday’s win at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis was the first state championship of any kind for the Dragons.
Neligh completed 13-of-15 passes for 211 yards and gained 178 yards, including two more touchdowns, on 14 rushes.
The Dragons scored four touchdowns in a span of 6:36 to build a 35-7 lead with 9:36 still to play in the opening half.
New Palestine and New Prairie combined to break or tie at least 23 records during the championship game.
