INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police in Indianapolis have released the names of two men who were killed in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s west side almost two weeks ago.
On Nov. 16, officers responded to West 38th Street and North Lawndale Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on the report of a person struck. When police got to the scene they found two men in the roadway. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified the men as 47-year-old Valentin Campos and 24-year-old Jose’ de la Paz Rosales Amaya.
Police say both men were crossing the eastbound lanes of West 38th Street just west of North Lawndale Avenue when they were hit. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Officers said the suspect vehicle may be a black 2005-2007 Ford Focus and would be missing its passenger side mirror. The vehicle may have moderate damage to the front-end or windshield.
Police say the victims were hit by at least one other vehicle. The driver of that vehicle stopped and cooperated with police.
Anyone with information is asked to call hit-and-run detectives at 327-6557 or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS (8477).
