INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Santa Claus arrived in Indianapolis in true Hoosier style Friday morning.

Santa made his annual appearance at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

IndyCar star Ed Carpenter gave the reindeer a day off and took St. Nick on a ride in a two-seater instead.

Another highlight at Friday’s event: some of Santa’s elves rappelled down the front of the building.

Afterward, Santa and one lucky child took a ride down the museum’s 47-foot Yule Slide, that more than 83,000 people slid down last year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
