1 dead after 3-vehicle crash in Clinton County

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – One person is dead after a three-vehicle crash on State Road 28 in Clinton County.

It happened around 6:30 p.m Friday at the intersection of State Road 28 and County Road 200 West, just west of Frankfort.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Frankfort police said two vans collided in the intersection. The driver of a minivan was ejected, but the van continued on and hit a car traveling in the westbound lanes. Captain Scott Shoemaker said the driver who was ejected died. He said there were no other serious injuries.

Reconstruction teams from Clinton and Tippecanoe Counties were on scene.

Shoemaker said traffic had to be diverted for hours.

“We have a lot of traffic, INDOT’s here. We’ve shut the road down. At least for four hours, we’ll have this road down. The sheriff’s office in Clinton and Tippecanoe County will be here to assist us,” said Shoemaker.

Investigators are not releasing names at this time.
