HENDRICKS CO., Ind. (WISH) – An Indianapolis man was charged with drunk driving Saturday morning after a crash on I-74, according to police.
The crash happened on I-74 near Ronald Reagan Parkway at mile marker 68 just after 8 a.m.
According to Brownsburg Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Barrett, a semi went off the roadway and came to a rest in the grass.
Barrett said when police got to the semi, they believed the driver, James Haney, 33, of Indianapolis, had been drinking. Officers gave him a breathalyzer test and arrested him on an operating while intoxicated charge.
A second semi driver was parked in front of the first semi. Police say the parked semi was not involved in the crash.
While police were waiting for a tow truck, a vehicle side swiped the two police cars and rear ended the parked semi.
Police were not in their cars when the car side swiped their cruisers.
The driver of that car, Jeremy J. Earl, 27, of Indianapolis, was taken to Methodist. His condition has not been released.
All lanes on I-74 re-opened around 10 a.m.
