GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) – Police say a intoxicated patron at a Mexican restaurant skipped out on his $30 bill and attempted to flee police on a bike.
According to 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at the Daily News, 25-year-old Chad G McNicholas was preliminarily charged on Monday with theft, resisting law enforcement, and public intoxication.
A police report stated, McNicholas seemed to be drunk when he was approached by a sheriff’s deputy around 9:30 p.m.
An off duty deputy was having dinner at the Mexican restaurant when he noticed McNicholas leave the restaurant without paying his bill. The off duty deputy called in a description of the suspect to a Decatur County Sheriff Deputy who was on duty.
Police caught up with McNicholas on a bicycle near the restaurant. When the deputy tried to stop the suspect he continued to pedal faster.
The deputy attempted to stop McNicholas by angling his vehicle in his path. As McNicholas attempted to pedal past the deputy he grabbed him by the shoulder causing him to fall to the ground next to his bicycle.
McNicholas had a blood alcohol level of 0.147 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to the report.
McNicholas was held at Decatur County Jail Tuesday afternoon on $505 bond.
