INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Lawrence North’s Lamina Cooper has been one of more recently sought after women’s basketball players in the area.
“I’ve had the opportunity to be on the men’s side of basketball, and there’s been two or three players I’d pay to watch play, and Lamina is one of them,” said Chris Giffin, Lawrence North girl’s head basketball coach.
With offers to Purdue, Louisville, and Illinois to name a few, she committed to the Boilermakers her junior year for a number of reasons beyond their basketball pedigree. She’s also just as dominant in the academic realm as the basketball court. She boasts a 4.7 GPA and is ranked 19 in a class of over 550 students.
“It’s really important to me, just being in the top 30. That’s a big deal here, and it feels nice to be top of my class and still play a sport too,” said Cooper.
