ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – 10 people were arrested and several others were removed after a fight during a basketball game at Anderson High School Friday night, according to the superintendent.
Terry Thompson, Superintendent of Anderson Community Schools, said administrators at both Muncie and Anderson High Schools had “anticipated a problem” at the game due to prior social media rumors.
Officials said the fight happened with about three minutes left in the third quarter of the game.
Police arrested 10 people, some of those were students and others were young adult graduates of the high schools.
Thompson said the game was delayed for about 15 minutes while the arrests were made.
Around 20 officers from Muncie and Anderson plus all of the administrators were at the game because they had been anticipating the incident, according to Thompson.
School officials said the fight started after “ongoing problems between Muncie and Anderson social clubs.”
Thompson said both school districts and police departments worked together quickly to stop the fight and make the arrests.
