INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Khadeeja Smith has been searching for clues and conducting her own investigation at the corner of 34th Street and Franklin Road.
Smith is looking for answers after lost her daughter there on Monday night. Police say a hit and run driver struck and killed her daughter, 16-year-old Antenia Young.
Police have few clues and so far, no arrest has been made in the case.
Smith has been diligently doing her own leg-work since the accident. She spent her Thursday going door to door, talking to residents and she even requested surveillance video from a nearby gas station.
During her search, Smith talked to a woman who informed her a local man is claiming that he knows who hit Young.
Police have released a description of some of their findings. Investigators believe the suspect is driving a late model Chevy Tahoe or Suburban with tinted windows. Officers believe the front side of the vehicle has damage on the passenger’s side.
An IMPD spokesman adds that detectives have reviewed surveillance video from a nearby gas station, but found no evidence related to the investigation.
Until police discover more, Smith will continue her own investigation and will continue to plead for someone to turn the suspect in.
A vigil is planned for Antenia Young Friday at 6 p.m. at 34th Street and Franklin Road.
