Pack the Pantries raises thousands for hunger relief

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — More food is on the shelves at Midwest Food Bank.

It’s all thanks to donations from the 7th Annual Pack the Pantries hunger relief initiative.

The food was delivered by caravan Friday morning, led by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. It started at the City County Building and ended at Midwest Food Bank in the 6400 block of Belmont Avenue.

Mayor Ballard announced Friday afternoon that the initiative raised more than $25,000 to help aid hunger relief operations throughout Indianapolis.

Since the first campaign in 2008, Pack the Pantries has generated more than 100,000 pounds of food and $200,000 in monetary donations, a release said.
