MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — A central Indiana man convicted in a brutal home invasion attack on a woman has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

The Star Press reports that a Delaware County judge sentenced 34-year-old Demario Antwan Jackson of Muncie last week. Jackson had pleaded guilty to a burglary charge stemming from the September 2013 attack.

The victim in that attack was an acquaintance of Jackson. She told investigators he entered her apartment through a bedroom window armed with a baseball bat and then punched her several times in the face. Jackson also kicked and stomped on her, causing injuries that required her hospitalization.

Jackson also faces a January trial in Marion County on drug-related charges, including dealing in cocaine. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
