INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An east side intersection was closed Tuesday morning while police investigated a suspicious bag, police dispatchers said.

Officers responded to 21st Street and Shadeland Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. after a passerby found a white bag under a bridge.

Police say there was a high-pitched, electrical sound coming from the bag. The bomb squad was called in to investigate.

21st Street and Franklin Road was blocked until around 8:30 a.m. Police determined the contents in the bag were harmless. The bag was full of security tags from stolen clothes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
