INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There are now more Hoosiers working to make Indiana a safer place.

Tuesday evening, 42 men and women took an oath to serve and protect. Those men and women became the newest members of the Indiana State Police during a graduation ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse.

For two graduates, police work runs in the family. One woman, who became a member of the Indiana State Police force Tuesday, follows her mother, who is an active member of the state police.

Another graduate joins the ISP after his grandfather, who was killed in the line of duty in a car crash in 1962. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
