INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Reggie Wayne may be closer to retirement than he wants.
The 36-year-old Colts wideout says he’ll need off-season surgery to repair a torn triceps suffered earlier in the season, and since he’ll be a free agent, his future may be out of his hands.
Wayne’s production has dropped off drastically since his injury. Number 87 has just 15 catches in his last five games for less than 100 yards.
The team’s all-time leader in games played and won has also had a handful of drops nursing his arm and elbow. He hasn’t missed a game this year, and says he wants to play as long as it doesn’t feel like a job.
The Colts will think long and hard about whether it’s worth re-signing one of the franchises cornerstone players.
